Inga Davidonienė
Director
Inga studied at Vilnius University, where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Library Science and a Master’s degree in Communication and Information (Publishing). She has led the Lithuanian Audiosensory Library (LAB) since 2019. Under her leadership:
- The library team refined its vision—“So Everyone Can Read!”—which has guided its work ever since.
- The ELVIS digital library collections were made available not only to blind readers but also to people with other print disabilities, increasing the number of readers tenfold. Following a comprehensive modernization, the virtual library became an indispensable resource for libraries across Lithuania.
- The Lithuanian Library for the Blind was rebranded as the Lithuanian Audiosensory Library. Following discussions with the community, the name was changed to shift the focus from disability to the opportunities offered by accessible formats.
- The library’s headquarters in Vilnius were renovated, with accessibility for people with visual and mobility impairments given particular attention.
- LAB became one of Europe’s pioneers in inclusive publishing, organizing training for Lithuanian publishers and readers, providing consultations, and certifying accessible digital books produced by publishers.
- The library launched the “Non-Reading Festival” (Neskaitymo festivalis), bringing together the dyslexia community, and began publishing and translating easy-to-read books for people with intellectual disabilities.
- Numerous LAB projects and awareness-raising initiatives have received both national and international recognition.
Inga also serves as Vice-Chair of the Council of Lithuanian Libraries and represents the library sector on the Council for Culture and Art. In her free time, she takes part in training activities with fellow members of the Lithuanian Riflemen’s Union.
